Meet the Teacher (Jamie)

Hi friends! Happy summertime to you and thanks a TON for visiting our new blog! :) My name is Jamie and I live in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania - home of champion sports franchises, world famous ketchup, and sandwiches topped with French fries and coleslaw...YUM! I have held a number of positions over the past 3 years; the longest being in first grade…MY FAV! I am OVER. THE. MOON. about Firsties With Heart, and I look forward to growing, learning, and sharing in the days ahead!

This is my boyfriend Rocky. He is one heck of a Reading Specialist…yes, teacher LOVE <3.  I value his opinion, I adore his sweet personality, and I am very, VERY thankful for his cutting laminate skills. He is a keeper ;)

This is my A-M-A-Z-I-N-G family – Shawn, Dad, Mom, and Biscuit. I love them all to pieces.  My younger brother couldn’t be more encouraging or supportive. Dad and Mom are high school sweethearts…too cute. Biscuit may be tiny, but she has a BIG diva attitude. I found that doggy-size gingerbread house at T.J. MAXX (I am a total maxxinista).
I decided to end my FIRST post with my FIRST grade school picture. What a gem! Gotta love the bangs, bow, and denim ;)

Oh, and head on over to my TPT store to download my Brain Breaks freebie and check out all of my products!

Meet the Teacher (Allison)

Hey all! Thank you so much for visiting our new blog. Jamie and I are thrilled to be starting this little adventure together and can't wait to share our teaching talents with you :) My name is Allison and I am a first grade teacher in Maryland. I absolutely LOVE my school, my precious firsties and my wonderful teamies! I grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania but moved with my husband for his military career to Maryland after we got married. It has been such a blessing to meet the most amazing military friends, but I totally miss my family and all things Pittsburgh! When I moved to Maryland, I got an interview with two amazing principals for a first grade position and signed my contract a few days later. I student taught in first grade so I knew I was already in LOVE! This will be my third year teaching first grade and it just keeps getting better :) I still consider myself a newbie teacher and I'm constantly learning new things so I look forward to becoming blogger buddies with a few of you experts to improve my teaching and learning!
This is my incredible husband and my best friend Dan in Hawaii! We're spending the summer in Honolulu for his medical school rotations. I've really enjoyed my summer swimming with the turtles, surfing (kind-of!), hiking and sunbathing....Life is tough, HUH?!
See why I miss Pittsburgh? I've got this AMAZING family (they're my other best friends)! This is in December from my sister's wedding. She was a gorgeous bride with her very handsome hubby, Jimmy! My two brothers, Alex and Sean, are both college boys and PERFECT gentlemen.. They will make some girls very happy some day! My mom and dad are the greatest examples of how to love life and I couldn't possibly have become the teacher I am today without their support. And just look at my good-looking stud in his military uniform. ;)

I just created my first freebie, so hop on over to my TPT store and download Comma Cops!

How Firsties with Heart Came About

Welcome to Firsties with Heart! We are OH-SO-EXCITED to enter the blogging world to share high quality products, innovative tips and dynamic classroom ideas. Our story is one full of heart, education, smiles, laughs and firstie love!!!!! Ten years ago we met as little high school freshies with a mouth full of braces and frizzy hair (Remember those days???). Over the years, this friendship grew because of our passion for teaching. We ventured to good old Duquesne University (Go Dukes!) and sat side by side on the road to becoming firsties with heart (with an immaculate planner and a 16 pack of flair pens in hand...obviously!). Three hundred miles apart can't keep the two of us apart. We constantly share resources and stories of our precious dumplings over the phone-- now it is time to share with you! No matter if you're close or far apart, we all have that teaching heart! We are so thrilled to start this blog together and embark on another year of teaching. :)
